Disclosed is a method for reading system messages. The method comprises: a terminal device receiving a paging message containing system message state indication in a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle, the terminal device comprising a terminal device, the DRX cycle of which is larger than a broadcast control channel (BCCH) modification cycle; the terminal device determining whether the system message state changes according to the system message state indication in the paging message; the terminal device reading and recording the system message corresponding to the current BCCH modification cycle or reading and recording the system message corresponding to the next BCCH modification cycle immediately adjacent to the BCCH modification cycle; and the terminal device communicating according to the read and recorded system message. Thus, the electrical quantity of a battery can be saved, so that UE can reduce power consumption. |
