PURPOSE: A remote control device and an operation method thereof are provided to offer an input interface and to improve user convenience. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication unit(110) transmits control information to a target device corresponding to a control target. An output unit(140) individually displays a menu item corresponding to control information for controlling the target device on a plurality of display areas. A control unit(170) controls the output unit displaying the menu category on the plurality of the display areas comprising the output unit. When the menu category is selected from a specific display area, the control unit controls the wireless communication unit to transmit control information corresponding to the selected menu category to the target device.
