A system of a tracheostomy tube contains a hollow tube having a portion of a proximal end and a portion of a distal end, and a curved portion between the end portions. The portion of the distal end is designed to be inserted through a patient's throat and tracheal stoma and into a tracheal lumen so that the portion of the distal end of the tube extends in a first direction inside the tracheal lumen when the portion of the proximal end extends in a second direction through the tracheal stoma. The portion of the proximal end forms a proximal plane of the system. An insufflation balloon enclosed the tube and has a distal portion of the balloon centred around and attached to the portion of the distal end of the tube and a proximal portion of the balloon attached to the curved portion of the tube and decentralised relatively to the curved portion below the proximal plane of the system, which when inflated by an inflation and evacuation device provides the balloon expansion around the portion of the distal end of the tube and the portion of the proximal end of the tube below the proximal plane of the system to seal the trachea below the tracheal stoma without sealing the tracheal stoma.
