The present invention pertains to: a capacitor anode that consists of a sintered tungsten body having a mean pore diameter of 0.3mum or less; and a process for the production thereof, characterized by pressing a tungsten powder into a compact having a density (Dg) of 8g/cm3 or more and then sintering the compact to a density (Ds) of at least 1.15 times the density (Dg) to form a sintered tungsten body having a mean pore diameter of 0.3mum or less. This capacitor anode ensures excellent equivalent series resistance (ESR).
