<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new usage, with the goal of preventing skeletal muscle atrophy, for a specific polyphenol having an action for inhibiting the expression of a gene that causes muscular atrophy. <P>SOLUTION: A composition having an action for inhibiting muscular atrophy and containing a polyphenol selected from delphinidin, delphinidin glucoside, epigallocatechin gallate, and EGCG is provided.
