The present invention relates to an undersea drill rig suitable for taking samples from a particulate sea floor. The drill rig comprises a frame and a drilling arrangement that uses water jets to fluidise the particulate sea floor, and a pair of hydraulic clamping arrangements powered by a hydraulic accumulator system to control movement of the drilling arrangement into and out of the sea bed.
