A method for producing an endoscopic optical fiber that is inserted through an insertion section of an endoscope and guides light, the method comprising integrating together a core glass and a cladding glass in an upright fiber-drawing furnace (30) by allowing gravity to cause the core glass, in a fluid state, to flow down through a hollow cladding tube (22) made of the cladding glass.
