The method involves performing thermal diffusion handling in a striking surface (4) of a metallic brake disc (1) before applying the surface coating (5) to the striking surface. The striking surface is plasma nitrated, carbonitrided or borated for performing thermal diffusion handling. The brake disc is made of gray cast iron.
