<p>PURPOSE: A mobile terminal for sound wave-based noncontact connection and a method thereof are provided to receive a message or a call with a simple hand gesture for disturbing the input of a sound wave without touching a corresponding button. CONSTITUTION: An event generation confirming unit(110) confirms the generation of various events including a receiving call or message. If an event is generated, a sound wave transmission/input unit(150) transmits a sound wave through a speaker. The sound wave transmission/input unit receives the sound wave through a microphone. A sound wave change confirming unit(170) confirms changes of the amplitude of the sound wave. If there are the changes of the amplitude, an event responding unit(190) responses the generated event based on the changes.
