PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for improving the safety of pedestrians are provided to prevent an accident by informing a vehicle near a large vehicle of the occurrence of the pedestrians. CONSTITUTION: A sensor is installed on the front of a large vehicle(20). A receiver(101) measures the occurrence of pedestrians from the sensor and receives a signal about the occurrence of the pedestrians. A control unit(103) generates an alarm signal corresponding to the signal and transmits the alarm signal to a driver.
