<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical splitter device and method. <P>SOLUTION: An optical splitter device includes a waveguide 102 having a wall 104 forming a large hollow core. The waveguide 102 is configured to guide an optical signal via a large hollow core 100. An optical tap 108 is formed so as to penetrate at least one wall 104 of the waveguide 102. Furthermore, a prism 112 is disposed in the large hollow core 100 of the waveguide, and aligned with the optical tap 108. A part of an optical signal is guided via the optical tap 108 to the outside of the waveguide 102 by arranging a splitter coating 110 on the prism 112. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
