PURPOSE: An input event processing method between an external device and a portable terminal is provided to process an input event generated in the external device when the external device is docked on the portable terminal, thereby allowing the portable terminal to control various devices included in the external device. CONSTITUTION: A docking interface unit(180) is docked on an external device and receives docking event data. The docking event data includes event state information and device kind information which shows sub-device kinds of the external device. A docking agent(192) performs an operation control function corresponding to docking combination with the external device. When docking connection is sensed, the docking agent receives an identification information list for a sub-device included in the external device and transmits identification information of the sub-device, which is used by a portable terminal, to the external device.
