Abstract A retention system (100) for retaining a flexible sheet (91), such as a tarpaulin for covering a stockpile of grain or other bulk material. The retention system (100) comprises a locking channel (101) for receiving and captivley retaining a flexible locking strip (103), whereby a portion (91a) of the flexible sheet (91) can be captively retained between the channel (101) and the locking strip (103) received therein. The locking channel (101) is disposed between two opposed longitudinal jaws (111) in spaced relation, the spacing between the by two opposed longitudinal jaws being selectively variable and lockable in a selected condition. The two opposed longitudinal jaws (111) are selectively variable to permit opening of the locking channel (101) to receive the longitudinal locking strip (103)and lockable in a selected condition to captivley retain the longitudinal locking strip in the locking channel.
