The device has a base element (100) with a rear wall (102) and an outlet (105) that is arranged at a lower end of the base element. A press part (101) is swingable connected at a bottom part with the base element, and forms a receiver for a cleaning utensil (111) that is connected together with the rear wall. The cleaning utensil is introduced from top between the rear wall and the press part that is laid against the rear wall and pushed out, and the utensil wrings out between the press part and rear wall. The outlet is laid out to withdraw liquid from the utensil. An independent claim is also included for a method for wringing out a cleaning utensil.
