<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio base station and a radio communication method, capable of eliminating wasteful calculation of the weight of an adaptive array antenna. <P>SOLUTION: At the L-th time slot, a radio communication unit 4 receives a known signal transmitted from one or more first mobile stations selected at the N-th time slot. At the L-th time slot, a transmission user selection unit 12 selects one or more mobile stations transmitting user data from a radio base station as a second mobile station. At the L-th time slot, on the basis of the received known signal, a transmission weight calculator 22 calculates a weight for mobile stations only corresponding to also the selected one or more second mobile stations among the one or more first mobile stations that transmits the received known signal.
