An optical sensor is provided to obtain a wide operation range by increasing sensitivity of high brightness without decreasing sensitivity of low brightness. An optical diode receives light and generates photo charges. An overflow gate transfers photo charges overflowing the optical diode during a storage operation, connected to the optical diode. A storage capacitor device stores the photo charges transferred by the overflow gate during the storage operation. The overflow gate can be made of a junction transistors. A semiconductor region constituting the gate of the junction transistor can be connected to a semiconductor region constituting the surface region of the optical diode and to a well region where the optical diode and the overflow gate are formed. |
