Cooking device with a sensor device and method for operating such a cooking device

The appliance (1) has a cooking chamber (2), a control device (3) and a sensor (4) that comprises two sensing units to be arranged in a common structural unit. The sensing units are associated with the cooking chamber for detecting various parameters e.g. characteristic values of temperature of the chamber. One of the sensing units is in operative connection with a safety device (8) i.e. electro-mechanical safety device (9). A control device (10) is suitable and adapted to test functionality of the sensing units. One of the sensing units controls another sensing unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cooking appliance.
