The application relates to determining how a person or group of people move and behave. A method of assigning a category to a user involves obtaining network usage records from a mobile network 120, extracting cell information from the network usage records 125, determining location information from the extracted cell information 130, and then assigning a category to the user based on the determined location information 150. The location information may include frequency of visits and time spent at a location. A category may be assigned based upon a number of determined locations over a time period, and may comprise detecting one or more modes of transport. The transport modes may be detected by comparing base station locations in the records with scheduled transport routes. |
