[Also in Group XXIX] A valve device for venting the brake pipe 17 of fluid-pressure brake systems, comprises an upper diaphragm 4 dividing chambers 5 and 6, the diaphragm 4 having secured at its centre a valve member 18, 19 having therethrough a passage 23 with choke passage 24 so that an initial reduction of pressure in pipes 17, 16 produces a downward deflection of the diaphragm due to the pressure in chamber 5 being reduced more slowly than that in chamber 6. Downward movement of a member 18, 19 displaces the valve ring 11 from its seat 12 so that air from pipe 16 may then flow out to atmosphere through choke passage fitting 14. When the pressure in chamber 5 has equalized with that in chamber 6 pressure from spring 15 will close the valve ring 11 back on to its seat 12.</p> |
