A sliding clasp fastener comprises a continuous filament 1 formed into a series of substantially U-shaped coupling links, the ends of each link being joined to'the preceding and succeeding links respectively; a carrier tape 4 extending along one side of the links; and a beading 3<SP>1</SP> extending along the other side thereof. As described the filament is of rectangular section; and the links formed therefrom are deformed, one limb 14 of each link being bent at 16 and 17 to form a shoulder 18, the remainder 141 of the limb thereby lying between the limbs 15 of the adjacent links. The beading 3<SP>1</SP> or the shoulders 18 may serve as a slider guide. The carrier tape 4 extends along the limbs 15 to form a covered fastener. |
