PURPOSE: A wireless power transmitter and a control method thereof are provided to minimize a collision with a heterogeneous communication channel and to select a channel for communicating with a wireless power receiver. CONSTITUTION: A control method of a wireless power transmitter includes the following steps: a step of determining a search channel used in communication with a wireless power receiver; a step of detecting at least one of the energy level and RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) value of a signal from the search channel; and a step of avoiding a collision with a heterogeneous communication channel, and determining whether or not the search channel is determined to be a communication channel based on a detected result.
