[Also in Groups I and XXIV] A transversely-resilient connecting rod, for use in driving the reciprocating blade of a mowing machine (see Group I), comprises a little end 137 integral with an inflexible portion 130 to which is riveted an assembly of leaf-springs carrying the big end bearing 140, 140<1>, 147. The central leaf-spring 138 is continuous, but the upper and lower springs, which are identical, each comprise two parts 142, 143 and 144, 145 mating along a wavy line to eliminate concentration of stress due to flexing of the assembly. |
