The illumination device (18) has a light conductor (10), and a first reflector (24) arranged in recess at the side (12) of light conductor. A light source (28) is arranged near the side (14) of conductor. The first reflector is configured to direct a portion of incident light from light source to a second reflector (26). The second reflector is configured to deflect incident light twice and to reverse the direction of received incident light during the deflection, so that deflected light between first reflector and side (14) of conductor is made to pass over first reflector.
