The method involves communicating a control unit (11) and a bus node (13) by a bus (12), and connecting microprocessors (14, 15) of the bus node with each other without interruption by a signal line (18). A specification signal is transmitted by the control unit to one of the microprocessors that transmits the signal to the other microprocessor to be allowed to provide the signal for the control unit at time intervals. The control unit is allowed to verify whether the provided signal corresponds to a signal expected by the control unit. An independent claim is also included for a monitoring device for carrying out a test method for a lift system.
