<p>PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of hydrophobically modified alkylene oxide polyurethane is provided to give hydrophobically modified alkylene oxide polyurethane useful for solventless thickening agent of coating material by not existing materially or lack of volatile organic solvent due to no solvent. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of hydrophobic reforming alkylene oxide polyurethane comprises a step of contacting polyisocyanate branching agent, water-solubility polyalkylene glycol, and solventless agent of the diisocyanate with polymerization catalyst under enough condition to form hydrophobically modified aklyene oxide urethane polymer. However, (1) the solventless agent is additionally included with hydrophobic capping agent before contacting with the catalyst, or (2) the hydrophobic capping agent is added to the agent after contacting with the catalyst. The molarity of glycol to polyisocyanate branching agent is 4-20, and the molarity of the total isocyanate to glycol hydroxyl group is 1.1-1.6.</p> |
