PURPOSE: A panel clamping device and a control method for the same are provided to improve productivity by shortening a working time and to prevent a hemming roller from being damaged by gradually stopping the generation of electromechanical power according to the contact position of the hemming roller and panel operated by a robot. CONSTITUTION: A panel clamping device(100) comprises a base frame, a seating jig(120), a clamping member(130), a power supply unit(140), and a controller(150). The base frame is installed on the bottom surface of a workplace by corresponding to the movement radius of a robot(10). The seating jig is mounted on the top of the base frame and is mounted with a panel(P) on the top thereof. The clamping member is installed in the seating jig by corresponding to the panel mounted on the seating jig. The clamping member fixes the panel by generating electromechanical power along with the application of power. The power supply unit is electrically connected with each clamping member to supply power. The controller is connected to the power supply unit to control the power supply unit to selectively adjust power supply to the clamping member.
