[Classes 37 and 53] The metal container of a dry cell or condenser is closed by a lid consisting of two discs 13, 14 bonded together and held in place by a bead 11 and the inturned edge 15 of the container. The disc 14 is made of a material such as neoprene which makes a waterproof seal with the container, the disc 13 being of a rigid insulating material such as a synthetic resin. One connection to the cell is made by a rivet 19 and the other by a thin metal tabe 17 which is gripped between the lid and the metal wall of the container. In order to prevent fracture of the tab 17 the disc 13 is weakened along a line 22a or 22b which may be curved or straight, as shown in Fig. 3. |
