631,906. Button-hole sewing-machines. INTERNATIONAL BUTTON HOLE. SEWING MACHINE CO. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 22011. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1940. [Class 112] In a button-hole sewing-machine a divided workclamp, which is spread for stretching the fabric at the button-hole, is arranged to provide a greater stretching over the length of the button-hole than at its ends. The upper clamp plates 60, which are pivoted to resilient arms 39, do not cover the fabric around the eyed or other end of a button-hole. Extra pressing plates 62 engage that part of the fabric and are carried by leaf springs 64 secured at 66 to the clamp plates 60. The fabric-engaging surfaces of the plates 62 and the co-operating surfaces of the lower clamp plates 37a are smooth, or, the former may be smooth and the latter provided with grooves perpendicular to the line of feed. Extra pressing plates may be provided at both ends of the clamp plates. Specifications 530,277 and 556,160 and U.S.A. Specifications 240,546, 655,637, 1,841,133, 1,905,854, 1,935,083 and 1,991,627 are referred to. |
