A cartridge case for practice ammunition is made to simulate a live round, the forward end 2 being folded and then pressed to an ogival shape. A first tool used to produce the folds 3, 4 has three pins projecting into its interior, the pins being arranged around a circle at points 120 degrees apart. The second tool has an ogival cavity and is used to flatten the folds produced by the first tool. The dummy projectile may be made separately from the cartridge case and welded thereto before closure. The powder charge may be held near the percussion cap by a combustible tamping such as nitrated paper. |
