<p>A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display including the same are provided. The backlight unit includes a light guiding plate (1031) and an LED assembly (1020) arranged on an edge of the light guiding plate (1031). The LED assembly (1020) includes a plurality of LED light sources (1021), the plurality of LED light sources (1021) being mutually separated by a predetermined gap, a substrate (1022) on which the plurality of LED light sources (1021) are mounted, and a peg (1025) orthogonally protruding between two adjacent LED light sources (1021) from the substrate (1022) towards the edge of the light guiding plate (1031) to which light from the plurality of LED light sources (1021) is emitted. The leading end of the peg (1025) fits into a corresponding concave recess (1032) formed in the edge of the light guiding plate (1031). The peg (1025) serves as a spacer preventing the light guiding plate (1031) from contacting the LED light sources (1021). A bottom cover (1050) is further included in the backlight unit to support the light guiding plate (1031). The substrate (1022) of the LED assembly (1020) is vertically oriented relative to the bottom cover (1050) and attached to a support wall (1051) that vertically protrudes from the bottom cover (1050).</p> |
