PURPOSE: An organic EL(Electroluminescent) display device is provided to display vivid black color by removing or reducing the effect of ambient light. CONSTITUTION: An organic EL device(104) is formed on a substrate(102). The organic EL device includes a first electrode(104a), an organic EL layer(104b), multiple pixels(104c), and a second electrode(104d). The multiple pixels containing an active dimming layer are arranged on the organic EL layer. The organic EL layer is formed on the first electrode. The second electrode is formed on the organic EL layer.
