The power converter circuit has two sub-modules (22) which are connected in series, for delivering a direct current (DC) voltage through an inductor with electrical power from a power source. Each sub-module comprises a single-phase half-bridge (40) on the input side and a single-phase full-bridge (42) on the load side. The half-bridge and the full-bridge are connected in parallel to the intermediate circuit capacitor (44) on the DC side. A discharge circuit (45) is provided in each sub-module for discharging the intermediate circuit capacitor of each sub-module. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method of discharging DC link capacitor in sub-module of converter circuit; and (2) control device for discharging DC link capacitor in sub-module of converter circuit. |
