The apparatus has a feeder for supplying a horizontal-bound desk calendar (9) as a core unit (10). A lifting unit is provided to lift two back portions (11) of core unit. A positioning and holding device (4) is arranged for temporary fixing of the back portions in a predetermined position relative to a hole punch which forms a hole in the back portions. A cotter-round apparatus (14) is arranged for inserting a cotter pin in the hole previously formed in the back portions of core unit. An independent claim is included for method for producing desk calendars.
