PURPOSE: A light guide plate and an edge light backlight device are provided to offer a light guide plate which has good local dimming effect and an edge light backlight device including the light guide plate, which has excellent local illumination performance without being interfered by neighboring light sources. CONSTITUTION: An edge backlight device comprises a light guide plate(1), a plurality of LEDs(2), and a reflector plate(5). The light guide plate includes a plurality of micro structures(6) and a base part(10). The base part has a light emitting surface(12); a back surface(13) which is opposite to the light emitting surface; and an incident surface(11) which connects the light emitting surface and the back surface. The micro structures are formed on the light emitting surface or the back surface. The micro structures expand vertically from the light emitting surface and has a first structure part(61) and a second structure part(62). The micro structures are formed by an array of lenticular lenses and disposed on the light emitting surface. The first structure part has a curved surface(611), and the second structure part having a trapezoid shape has two inclined surfaces(621) which face each other and expand outwardly and downwardly to the base part.
