The industrial truck has a battery-powered electric drive, which has a battery compartment (18) for accommodating a battery. The battery compartment has a battery flap (20) and an electrical contact unit for electric connection of the battery with the electric drive. A switching unit (26) is arranged in the battery compartment and is actuated by the battery flap in its closed position in order to produce an electrical connection between the electrical contact unit and the electric drive and to release a blocked function of the vehicle.
