PURPOSE: A smart door for a vehicle is provided to open a door without making an effort by recognizing gesture of a user with a proximity sensor. CONSTITUTION: A smart door for a vehicle comprises a distance measuring sensor(3), a guide display unit(4), a control unit(10), a door opening driving motor(5), and a proximity sensor. The distance measuring sensor measures the distance of a hand gesturing at every predetermined time and transmits the distance to the control unit. The guide display unit displays a section of the distance which the distance measuring sensor measures. The control unit recognizes change of the measured distance and determines whether the gesture is the command for opening a door or closing the door. The door opening driving motor opens or closes the door at fixed speed according to a command signal of the control unit. The proximity sensor senses an object by being installed on the outside of the door and prevents the door from being collided with the external object when the door is opened.
