<p>A hollow article containing crevices or the like is provided with a coating by placing therein an amount of thermoplastic powder to cover the crevices, vibrating the article to compact the powder into the crevices, then heating the article to coalesce the thermoplastic into a continuous coating in the crevices. The remaining surface area may then be coated by flame spraying or by introducing more thermoplastic powder while the article is still hot, rotating to obtain an even coating, and re-heating to sinter the coating. The process may be used for applying a polyethylene coating to metal container with seamed joints.</p> |
