The system has a protective plank structure overlapped with a stationary wall section (12) within overlapping area (22) and attached to the wall section. The structure extends along a traffic path based on the overlapping area. The structure includes a connection element (24) with an elongated oblong tensile load section (38) for attaching to a side of the wall section turning towards a roadway within the overlapping area. A retaining section (44) of the connection element retains or attaches a component of the structure running along the traffic path.
