PURPOSE: A cellulose ether is provided to provide a mortar with physical properties with long term maintaining without degradation of bowing phenomenon after re-mixing. CONSTITUTION: A cellulose ether is a crosslinked by an epichlorohydrine. In the crosslinking reaction, 0.1-20 wt% of epichlorohydrin is used with regard to the cellulose ether. The cellulose ether before the crosslinking reaction has a viscosity of 500-100,000 cps in 2% aqueous solution. A cellulose ether composition includes 30-99 wt% of a crosslinked cellulose ether, 0.1-50 wt% of a modified starch, 0.1-30 wt% of a coagulant, and 0.1-20 wt% of a fluidifier.
