PURPOSE: A thermoelectric generator is provided to efficiently use thermal energy by being installed in a muffler and contacting exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: A thermoelectric generator for vehicles comprises a pair of high temperature parts(110), a pair of thermoelectric modules(140), and a pair of low temperature parts(130). The pair of high temperature parts closes both ends of a muffler(60) to be mounted on the outer surface of an exhaust pipe, and is heated by exhaust gas. The pair of thermoelectric modules is mounted on the outer surface of the exhaust pipe, and one side of the thermoelectric module is heated by the pair of high temperature parts. The pair of low temperature parts cools the other side of the thermoelectric module while a coolant flows in the low temperature parts. The pair of thermoelectric modules generates electricity using thermoelectric transport which occurs due to the temperature difference between one side and the other side thereof.
