PURPOSE: A physical examination device by distinguishing the regions of tongue fur and tongue texture and a method thereof are provided to distinguish the region of tongue fur from the region of tongue texture for a physical examination by excluding an unstable region and by minimizing the affection of a lighting condition or surrounding environment. CONSTITUTION: A physical examination device(100) by distinguishing the region of tongue fur from the region tongue texture includes a tongue region extraction unit(110) which extracts a tongue region from a user's image; a tongue texture/fur separation unit(120) which separates a tongue fur and a tongue texture from the extracted tongue region; a tongue characteristic extraction unit(130) which extracts the information on tongue characteristics from the separated tongue texture and fur; and an examination result generating unit(140) which generates the result of an examination based on the extracted information on the tongue characteristics.
