<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a pressure of developer that flows inside a container of a developing device and determine a toner state on the basis of the detection result. <P>SOLUTION: A developing device includes: a developing roll 52 that conveys developer G inside a container 51 of a developing unit 14 to a photoreceptor 11 side, a trimmer 53 that is provided on the upstream side of a photoreceptor in a conveyance direction of the developing roll 52, and pressure sensors 56 (A, B, and C) that are provided on the trimmer or in the vicinity of the trimmer inside a container and detect pressure generated by the developer G.
