<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control potential on a photoreceptor drum regardless of environmental changes or a difference in film thickness of the photoreceptor drum, and to form a high-quality image with reduced density unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device includes: an image carrier on which an image is formed; transfer means for transferring the image formed on the image carrier to a transfer body; voltage application means for applying a voltage to the transfer means; and current detection means for detecting a current flowing in the image carrier via the transfer means when the voltage is applied to the transfer means. A surface potential on the image carrier is determined by use of a first voltage which is obtained when the voltage value detected after a predetermined voltage is applied to the transfer means while changing the applied voltage in a positive direction reaches a discharge current value, and a second voltage which is obtained when the voltage value detected after a predetermined voltage is applied to the transfer means while changing the applied voltage in a negative direction reaches the discharge current value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
