<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for exchanging disc cutters of a cutter head, by which an operator can safely exchange the disc cutters, arrange the disc cutter at required pitches, and which is inexpensive. <P>SOLUTION: In a cutter head 12 in which saddles 30 which support interchangeable twin-disc cutters 18A in a rotatable manner are mounted on mounting bases 31 via fixed plates 34, an exchanging device 40 capable of exchanging the twin-disc cutters together with the saddles inside a cutter box 16 under atmospheric pressure behind the cutter head is provided. The exchanging device includes: a knife gate valve 42 detachably connected to a rear end opening part of the mounting base instead of the fixed plate; an exchanging guide 44 detachably connected to the rear part of the knife gate valve and guiding back-and-forth movement of the saddle with respect to the mounting base; and an attachment/detachment jack 43 attached to the exchanging guide and moving the saddle forward and backward. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
