<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress decrease in detection accuracy of a user-associated area when part of the user-associated area lies outside the outer edge of an image. <P>SOLUTION: A user detecting apparatus divides a user-associated area that is associated with a user in an image into a plurality of areas, stores a color histogram of each of the plurality of areas as a reference color histogram, and calculates similarity between color histograms using reference color histograms of color histogram use areas (one example is shown by a dash line in (A)) selected from the plurality of areas to detect the user-associated area in the image. When a corresponding area corresponding to a color histogram use area in an image lies outside the outer edge of the image, the color histogram use area is shifted to an area in which the corresponding area does not lie outside the outer edge of the image or a ratio of lying outside the outer edge of the image is smaller (one example is shown by a dash line in (B)). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
