<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for efficiently producing a dispersion for inkjet recording, wherein finely grained pigment is stably dispersed. <P>SOLUTION: [1] The process includes: a step (A) for producing an aqueous pigment dispersion containing a treated pigment by the reaction of the pigment with a treating agent that can introduce a hydrophilic group into the pigment, while a mixture that contains the pigment and an aqueous medium is ground by means of a media mill, and a step (B) for adding a polymer having an acid value of 150 to 250 mg-KOH/g to an aqueous pigment dispersion that contains the treated pigment and dispersing the resulting material by using a high pressure homogenizer.
