<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism which enables appropriate firmware upgrade even after some firmware is upgraded by a serviceman. <P>SOLUTION: When a serviceman upgrades firmware for an image forming apparatus via a dedicated interface, an upgrade information file is stored which contains information of versions of the firmware before and after upgrade. To search a firmware set applicable to the image forming apparatus, the upgrade information file is sent to a distribution system. An applicable firmware set searched at the distribution system is obtained from the distribution system, and upgrade is performed using the firmware set. The firmware set used for the upgrade is either a set searched by using a previous version of the firmware upgraded or a set searched without using a version of the firmware upgraded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
