PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit an acknowledgement packet within a specified response time to improve the throughput characteristics.

SOLUTION: A wireless AP 200 receives a received packet from a wireless terminal 100. A retransmission packet detection section 205 determines whether the received packet is a retransmission packet or not. If the packet is determined not to be a retransmission packet, a demodulation section 202 demodulates the received packet, and a packet error inspection section 203 makes the error determination. An acknowledgement signal generation section 204 generates an acknowledgement packet if the reception is determined to be successful by the error determination. The received packet and the acknowledgement packet are stored in the retransmission packet detection section 205. A control section 206 transmits the stored acknowledgement packet to the wireless terminal 100 without demodulation nor error determination for the retransmission packet if the received packet is determined to be a retransmission packet.
