PURPOSE: A masking apparatus and a method for soft decision masking are provided to increase precision of detection target blob by performing masking and giving weighted value through a masking operation. CONSTITUTION: A masking apparatus receives a disparity map having a number of pixel values by being generated from image information(S100). The apparatus compares the pixel values of the received disparity map with a predetermined threshold value(S110). If the pixel value is greater than the threshold value, the apparatus outputs the pixel value(S130). The apparatus performs a masking operation by detecting the outputted pixel value as blob for the disparity map(S140).
