PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a polyglycerol fatty acid ester excellent in productivity, whereby the quality such as coloration and odor can be improved without the need of adding a reducing agent or activated charcoal to a reaction liquid or the need of decolorizing the obtained polyglycerol fatty acid ester.

SOLUTION: The method for preparing a polyglycerol fatty acid ester comprises reacting glycerol carbonate with a fatty acid in the presence of a heterogenous catalyst.
